Why does Iconically® use an auction to determine campaign winners?
Auctions allow creators in our community to openly and competitively bid a flat fee, affiliate rate and/or equity stake on campaign briefs. This helps make both the bidding and selection process more transparent and equitable. It also helps creators avoid over or under bidding on opportunities, and either completely missing out on partnerships or being grossly underpaid.
How are winners selected in an auction?
Auction winners are selected by brands based on overall best value (i.e. rates and reviews). Winning creators submit their best rates and obtain as many brand reviews as possible.
What are my chances of winning a campaign auction as a creator?
Traditionally the campaign selection process has been non-transparent. As a creator, you are typically not aware of how many other creators are being considered for a campaign or what rates they are charging the brand. This lack of transparency often leads to creators being overlooked for paid partnership opportunities, or unknowingly underpaid when selected to partner. At Iconically®, we believe information is power, and so we empower creators in our community to make data-driven decisions based on actual rates being bid by creators and accepted by brands. Thus increasing your chances of winning more brand deals.
How does Iconically® prevent creators from undercutting one another during the bidding process?
As a creator, you can see the highest and lowest bids as well as total number of bidders. You can not see what rates were bid in-between the highest and lowest values. Nor can you see the names, follower counts or engagement rates of any of the other bidders. So bidding below another creator does not guarantee you are offering the brand better value as that bidder may have more followers or higher engagement than you. Brands can view your full social media foot print and will pick winners based on best overall ROI offered.
What are the average rates for creators?
Creator rates can vary depending on the creator’s business category, engagement and reach, and the brand’s payment type, asks and “fine print” requirements for the campaign, often including dozens of factors such as flat fee vs affiliate campaigns, types of posts, number of posts, number of social platforms to post on, number of required reshoots, scripted vs unscripted content, creator generated vs brand generated content, content usage right term and type, exclusivity period, link-in-bio period, payment terms, SAG-AFTRA affiliation and more.
Given the complexity of pricing projects, our platform uses AI to recommend rates for both brands and creators based on thousands of data points from similar campaigns. This allows all sides to bid with confidence and come to agreeable terms more often.
What fees are involved to participate in an auction?
Auctions are free for brands and creators.
Does Iconically® offer fully managed campaign services?
Brands and agencies can use our self-service portal as well as contract with us for full service campaign management, including managing of content production, scheduling and compliance.
How does Iconically® help ensure brand safety?
Iconically® offers brands the opportunity to rate creators and share their reviews with other brands that are considering partnering with them. This gives brands a preview as to what it is like to work with the creator as well as their overall brand-safety and number of brand partnerships.
Why does Iconically® advocate for creators of color?
There is a vast racial divide in influencer marketing opportunities and pay for creators. According to a recent study conducted by MSL there are multiple barriers to entry and success for BIPOC creators. Particularly distressing is that creators of color are nearly twice as unlikely to get a sponsored brand deal and when BIPOC influencers do win deals they are often held to a different standard for less pay. What is the opportunity cost for brands by not partnering with more creators of color?
The combined buying power of African, Native, Hispanic and Asian-Americans will exceed $5 trillion this year alone and that number is only projected to grow. By partnering with BIPOC creators, brands are able to have more authenticate conversations with communities of color about their products that truly resonate, and subsequently, activate new audiences. By not partnering with more BIPOC creators, brands are missing out on revenue growth opportunities that will come from engaging current and future generations of a demographic that is itself growing larger and spending more every year.
